VIDEO: Rick Ross – Idols Become Rivals

Rick Ross’ scathing Birdman diss track “Idols Become Rivals” now has a visual to match.

Directed by Ryan Snyder, the sleek clip starts with an evocative pastor, reflecting on the issues surrounding love for money and luxury.

“You have to make up your mind if you’re going to trust in God or you’re going to trust in cash money,” he tells his congregation. “Are you gonna trust God or are you gonna trust in cash money? You cannot go to war against God, chasing the cash money. Sometimes, your idols become your rivals.”

While sitting in a church, Rozay likens Baby’s Cash Money issues — including his Lil Wayne legal battle — to child molestation. “Catholic record labels,” he raps. “Ni**as gettin’ raped, boy / Birdman’s a priest, moans in his synagogue.”

Later, Bangladesh — the beatsmith behind Lil Wayne’s “A Milli” — makes a cameo as an “unpaid producer.” Adding to this narrative, Renzel burns a Cash Money Records contract.

Birdman responded to Rozay’s single with a statement back in March. “I don’t get caught up in hoe shit,” he said. “I just keep doing what I’m doing and keep pushing. I don’t get caught up in that, I don’t play like that. I’m a man and I stand my ground and I do my thing. Numbers don’t lie, and that’s all I give a fuck about: numbers, and puttin’ them up.”

“Idols” is the latest Rather You Than Me single. It follows past videos for “I Think She Like Me,” “Trap Trap Trap,” and “She On My Dick.”
