After confirming a new album for 2017 and dropping “Angel Dust,” Nas unleashes new music through “Systematic,” a DJ Shadow collaboration off the “Silicon Valley” soundtrack.
Over boom-bap drums and an electronic-twist, Esco brags about his own ventures in Silicon Valley. “I’m a vessel, I’m humble,” he raps. “Meetin’ start ups, I invest if I want to / Transformin’ global markets with all of my partners / Methodical corporate culture, straight out the projects.”
Earlier this month, he confirmed that his yet-to-be-named forthcoming LP is coming this year “for sure.” However, he acknowledged that it wasn’t finished yet. “It’s not done ’til it hits the streets,” he said.
Other cuts from “Silicon Valley” are set to drop throughout the season, which kicks off Apr. 23. Eventually, the full soundtrack — released via Nas’ Mass Appeal Records — will be released June 16.
Nas is also working on an upcoming BET series, “Street Dreams,” which will be based on his life. Plus, he’s playing Raymond “Sunset” Green in Monster, alongside A$AP Rocky and Jennifer Hudson.
