Lil Durk and DeJ Loaf may or may not be dating anymore, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be releasing new collaborations. The former couple teams up once again on “The One,” a track seemingly inspired by their relationship.
Durk starts off the song by comparing their romance to some other power couples. “I like her demeanor like French had Trina,” he raps. “Like Nicki and Meek, Drake and Serena / Like Bobby and Whitney, she off that Henny while I just be leanin’.”
Meanwhile, Lil Loaf maintains her independence while rhyming about the authenticity of her love. “He know I ain’t in it for fame,” she raps. “She know that I really been poppin’ / I’m working real hard for my name.”
Durk and DeJ have become quite the collaborative force, linking up on tracks like “True or False,” “My Beyoncé,” and “What You Do to Me (Remix).” In January, they also joined Lil Bibby and Kevin Gates on “You Ain’t Gang (Remix).”
“The One” follows a slew of 2017 releases from Durk, including “Homie Bitch” with Quavo and Lil Yachty, which dropped last month. In May, DeJ also released her latest cut, “Birdcall 1.5.”
