Ivory Coast footballer Cheick Tiote who played for Newcastle in England has died in training. The 30 year old footballer moved to China from England signing for second tier club Beijing Enterprises. A spokesman of the midfielder confirmed his death on Monday afternoon.
“It is with deep sadness I confirm that Cheick Tiote sadly passed away earlier today after collapsing in training,” said spokesman Emanuele Palladino.
“We cannot say any more at the moment and we request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers.”
Cheick Tiote was part of the Ivory Coast squad that won the AFCON in 2015.
