Defending Champions Real Madrid are beginning to bite their luck without star-player Cristiano Ronaldo who is still on suspension, as the team drew 1-1 with lowly Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ivi Lopez scored for the visitors in the 12th minute and Lucas Vasquez equalised for Zidane’s men before the end of the first half. More salt was added to Real Madrid’s wounds in the 89th minute when Marcelo was shown a straight red for a rather rash challenge.
Barcelona defeated Espanyol 5-0 with Lionel Messi bagging a hat-trick to send them to the top of the La Liga table, while Atletico Madrid drew 0-0 away at Valencia to climb one above Real Madrid in 6th position.
