American Grammy Award winning gospel singer, Tasha Cobbs have been receiving a lot of backlash from the Christian community after she announced that she will be featuring American female secular rapper, Nicki Minaj on one of her song “I’m Getting Ready’ on her upcoming album.

Ever since she announced the collaboration a lot of people have flooded her social media pages chastising her. Nigerian gospel singer, Nikki Laoye who was also a victim of the same abuse has decided to come out openly to talk about it using her situation to tackle the issue. Nikki Laoye once featured a secular artiste, Seyi Shay on one of her song which led to people condemning her.

Nikki took to her Instagram page to address the issue with a lengthy post:

“Oh yeah… Now I am ready… Swipe left to read it all.. Got a lot to share on this.. I had to create a note, took my time to write my thots and God sent ppl around me yesterday to give me more insight on this work of ours..Yes some Gospel Artists like @NikkiLaoye , Tasha Cobbs @tashacobbsleonard, @KirkFranklin, @TimGodfreyworld have a reason why we work with Mainstream artists to share the gospel. ….And here’s my ending note: “IS IT YOUR BLOOD THAT WAS SHED? Lol! ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
And as reminded by a Muslim turned Christian who had to pay a huge price to serve Christ @abiodunfolawiyo last night at an impromptu meeting at @olaitandada’s studio”
